Method of plain gathering:
1. Use a strong single thread longer tiian the space to be gathered.
2. Trim the edge of the cloth neatly.
3. If the space to be gathered is long, divide it intu two, four, or eight parts,
marking each part by a small notch cut in the edge.
4. Make a crease to guide the gathering tiiread.
5. In.«ert the gathering thread, using the gathering stitch-forni. (See page
23.) If necessary, use a new gathering thread for each section. Ck Slip the needle from the thread and make a knot on the end of the thread. 7. Draw up the material on the thread.
